Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of December 8, 1877

Overview

His sleep remains poor, but he avoids severe physical trouble and spends the morning revising Parsifal proofs. The day stays quiet apart from their continued reading, and he is amused enough to mock the style in which his own work has been announced.

Content

Saturday, December 8:

R. did not sleep much, but at least he had no attacks of cramps and did not get up. He spends the morning correcting the Parsifal proofs and will demand from Dr. Strecker a different typeface from the “elegant roman” in which, as we note with laughter, he has announced the poem. In the evening we continue with Dozy's History of the Arabs.
