Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of February 1, 1882

Overview

With the move approaching, shopping and practical preparations dominate the day while Lusch recounts unsettling news about Cosima's father. Even a crowded evening reception goes tolerably well, and R. is patient enough to coach a young singer through her songs.

Content

Wednesday, February 1:

Weather somewhat dull; we are told that February here is stormy and cold. Bonichen is doing much shopping in connection with the move, and Lusch is telling us a lot about my poor father! We spend the evening at Countess Tasca's, where quite a large reception is being held; R. bears it all very well; he even gives some advice to the young lady who sings Dors, mon enfant and Mignonne, and she heeds it well when singing them again.
