Friday, May 6:
No outing, wretched cold weather; R. writes letters (to the King and to Hans Herrig), I look for poems for R.’s birthday. Letter from Frau Schuré. R. not well, I am worried about him. Wrote to Claire.
Diary Entry of May 6, 1870
Cold, miserable weather cancels the planned outing and keeps the day indoors. Wagner writes to the king and Hans Herrig while Cosima searches for birthday poems, writes to Claire, and receives Frau Schure’s letter. Wagner’s poor health worries Cosima, giving the short entry an undertone of watchfulness.
