Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of May 8, 1870

Overview

A pale but pleasant day carries Wagner’s work forward while Cosima attends a rehearsal of the Huldigungsmarsch at the barracks. Her nervousness about the event alters the family schedule, moving the children’s meal to accommodate the rehearsal. The evening returns to Phaedo, keeping Socratic reflection in quiet counterpoint to practical preparations.
