Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of May 27, 1870

Overview

Cosima’s meeting with the priest brings little progress and even reproach over the birthday serenade. Wagner writes to the king and is delighted when the doctor praises Fidi’s exceptional health and beauty. A fine afternoon, Fidi’s sunbath, reading in the hermitage, and Wagner’s terse claim that music is pure will give the day a concentrated philosophical calm.
