Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of February 19, 1869

Overview

A calm, uneventful day is divided between Richard's score work and Cosima's care of the children. After lunch they read scenes from A Midsummer Night's Dream, and she spends two hours in the garden with Loldi, whose invented doll stories show vivid imagination. The evening closes with the completion of Coriolanus.

Content

Friday, February 19:

Good, eventless day; R. with his score, I with the children.

After lunch went through some scenes of A Midsummer Night’s Dream with R.

Played with Loldi in the garden for two hours. She has christened her two dolls Pikasoki and Pulvia; the former is naughty. She will “shoot her up into the sky,” all this in the form of a story.

In the evening finished Coriolanus.
