Richard Wagner to Franz Liszt

April 11, 1853 · Zurich

Overview

Wagner forwards the Prague manager's latest answer with fuller details about the ban on Tannhauser and asks Liszt, if he has the time and inclination, to continue helping in the matter out of friendship. He also says he longs for a letter from Liszt and wants to know directly whether there is any truth in rumors of a breach between Liszt and Weimar.

Letter

Herewith, dearest, best of friends, I send you the answer of the Prague manager, containing particulars as to the prohibition of Tannhäuser. If you have time and care to do so, co-operate in this affair also, in accordance with the love you bear me. I long for a letter from you, and am curious to hear from yourself what truth there is in your rumoured breach with Weimar.
